Finally bought after 20 years -- great coffee, but very fussy machine
I've been looking at this manufacturer for 20 years -- ever since Cooks Illustrated rated it the best. I finally bought one. The bottom line is it makes very good coffee, but I don't love the machine yet. I expected fussy, but after using its closest competitor (Bonavita) for years -- which is exceedingly easy to use and also makes very good coffee -- this seems a little much. There is a loose, separate cover for both the water and the grounds that have to be removed and placed somewhere (on my crowded counter) while you add water and grounds. The transfer arm that transports the water to the grounds is removable, and while it seems fairly secure, since it's press-fitted to the reservoir's silicone seal, I'm concerned that over time it will loosen and lose its seal. The brew basket has to fit into pegs, and has a spring-loaded release trap that I expect to wear out eventually. It's also complicated to clean, due to its design. The glass carafe has this bizarre funnel lid that goes to the bottom of the carafe, and is awkward to maneuver when filling it with water, so I just remove it. The warming plate surface material (some kind of plastic) has a fair amount of friction, and since one has to push up another spring-loaded device when slipping the pot under the basket, it makes it more difficult to get the pot in. It tends to bind, and you have to wiggle the pot a little to get it under. They should improve the plastic - make it more slick -- or just switch to stainless steel, which would have more slip. Washing all these individual parts will be a chore, and I think they have to be hand-washed.Yes, I'm being fussier than the coffee maker itself, but all these things add up in the morning when you have 5 minutes to get out the door to work. I've only been using it for four days, so I'm sure I'll get more used to it, and maybe my morning grumpiness may improve. The only true flaw I've found so far is the carafe spout lip. It has a low velocity pour speed, or it will break and dribble down the pot. The Bonavita can be poured nearly as fast as one wishes, as the lip is very well designed. For coffee it's not that big of a deal, as one usually pours it fairly slow, but I always get water on the counter when filling the reservoir with the carafe, and it's irritating. I'm going to use it a while, and if it continues to be a problem, I'm going to assume it's a bad carafe -- and not design -- and ask for a replacement.OK -- that's the bad, and yes I was very nit-picky, but this is a $350 coffee maker that has been touted as the finest home brew for decades -- and I think it deserves a picky review. On the good side, it's a beautiful design, over-all. Very cool look. Besides the issues, above, it does seem sturdy and well made. The plastic cover on the reservoir seems a little cheap, but I'm being really picky now. Overall it seems well made. The most important thing is the coffee taste, of course, and it does make damn good coffee. With the same beans, comparatively, it is not quite as extracted as the Bonavita, but the coffee seems more nuanced. I'll try it with other beans -- maybe go head to head with the Bonavita-- and get back to you. I do suspect that the coffee will be better in the Technovorm. My wife -- who gets up an hour and a half after me for work -- says it does a great job at keeping the coffee warm. I'm giving it 4 stars because of my observed design issues -- and yes, because my expectations have been so high for so many years. Flavor is 5 stars. Stay tuned....

    Good warranty and available parts
Product is well made. I purchased it because of the longer warranty and that replacement parts are available. Coffee taste good and coffee maker is attractive. I gave it only 4 stars because of the excessive price. The day after I ordered it the price dropped $100.

YOU make the coffee, not the machine
I've been using the Moccamaster KBGV Select (Turquoise) for 5 months now. I bought it because of the color options and the clean/fresh design, and because I had some 'play money' from selling a woodworking tool I no longer used. In my personal opinion, it makes coffee the same as 75% of the machines available in the $60-$200 price range. For reference sake, I grew up in a home that only used the manual Melitta pour-over filter, and I did the same my first 10 years of coffee drinking in the 70's & 80's.When I started shopping for a new machine after my beloved Cuisinart Brew Central broke, I realized I was 'tired' of the typical brushed chrome and/or black machines that all look the same and have no 'personality'. The turquoise color matches my semi-vintage teal Formica counters. I love the look! If you have the money, then treat yourself. Your friends will ask you about it. But if you want the 'best' cup of coffee, I suggest learning how to make a good cup with a pour-over or most any machine available.

    Well worth the money
After years of disappointing coffee machines, I think have finally found a keeper. This machine is delightfully simple. It has two switches - one for pot size and the other to turn it on. The lack of bells and whistles in terms of controls is a good thing. If you want several controls like timed brewing, etc., you might need a timed switch. However, I love the simplicity of the unit. The brew time is fast. Within a minute or two water is flowing through the grounds. It brews a delicious pot faster than any other machine I have owned. The flavor and balance are excellent with no overflow of grinds into the pot.I am using a stainless steel filter, and with all metal filters, there is always the risk of increased "grit" in the coffee. I am not seeing it with this coffee maker, and I think the way to spreads water over the grounds is contributing to better coffee. My only complaint is the directions should come with some warnings. When I was running a few test cycles with water only, I didn't have everything aligned correctly and water spilled out. I figured it out very quickly, but some better warnings in the instructions of what could go wrong would be helpful. This machine is not for everyone, but it is the best one I have owned. Elegant, simple, effective, and a good tasting pot of drip coffee.

Makes a great cup of coffee
I love the European inspired looks and how quickly it brews a delicious cup of coffee. I'm not really liking how cheap-ish the thickness and feel of the plastics are on the unit. I'm also really amazed by how cheap and thin the glass of the decanter is. I've seen better quality decanters on $20 Mr Coffee units. The most important part of this unit is the quality of the brew and it definitely excels in that department. I just hope it lasts as long as some people have reported. Just think for $300+ it should come with a better quality decanter.

    Not worth the cost
First, let me state that the Moccamaster makes a good cup. The issue is the cost and if the hype around this brand really justifies the high price. And the answer is no, it does not. Unless you're trading up from a vintage 1980's Mr. Coffee and still using store bought pre ground dirt the difference btwn this and other brands is truly negligible. With some research, you can easily find many brewers that work at 190 degrees and have a fine spray head for at least 50% less cost. The other aspect to the Moccamaster that is often overlooked is the flimsy construction. The whole thing is this cheap feeling plastic that wobbles and shakes and generally feels inferior and certainly not up to the high minded standards Moccamaster sets for itself. The thin water reservoir top never snaps on tightly, the spray arm is this wispy thing that shakes and wobbles, and the cover on the glass carafe itself always comes off when you put your thumb on it. The locking tab to get the basket into the holder requires entirely too much concentration and is generally unstable feeling. So, taken together, my advice is to look elsewhere and save your money, there are coffee makers out there that brew just as good a cup, and feel like a higher quality piece as well. At one point Moccamaster might have set the standard, but others have caught up.

    You are worth it..
I am NOT a fancy man.. I'm not a rich man... I an NOT a coffee snob.. BUT .. this may be the best purchase I have ever made.. it hurt for sure to drop $300 something on a coffee maker that replaced my old $30 Mr cofee.coffee.. but the results are Miles better... Immediately I can taste the difference in quality.. It also brew a cup much hotter and keeps it that way.. Every single morning I feel as though I am treated to something special.. in the long run.. that $300 something becomes nothing. SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS AND SO WILL YOU . YOU ARE WORTH IT

    Great coffee at a price
This is awesome drip coffee. It takes about 10 minutes to brew. You cant rush this coffee maker. You clean it every 100 runs. The output is great though. You’re going to get an awesome cup of coffee.

    Very good coffee machine
I got a couple gift cards for Christmas from customers of mines and I’ve been wanting a new coffee machine and decided to get the this coffee machine. I’ve had it for a few months now and Honestly I’m enjoying it. It’s easy to use and clean and it gets the job done and makes great coffee. It is pricey and if it wasn’t for the gift cards I probably wouldn’t have purchased it. But if you got the money for it I think it’s worth it, it functions the way it needs to and it’s reliable and the coffee I make with it really tastes great. I went with the bronze color to match my kitchen and it looks really good in person.

    Worth every penny
My wife and I really enjoy the ease of use with this coffee maker. The quality is great, and we really appreciate the auto-shutoff for the burner plate. My wife was very hesitant about the price however, she feels the quality of the coffeemaker and the quality of coffee is well worth the cost and I agree.

    Worth its cost
Highly recommended. Although I have this coffee maker just for a short time I am extremely pleased with the taste of the coffee. I have found that using the recommended measure of coffee is important as is the grind. I also appreciate that you have option to make a half pot and still have excellent results. The lack or it not having a programming mode is a non-issue as coffee starts to loose favor with in a short time and getting the programming time with my wake up time and breakfast prep would probably mean stale coffee. The fit and finish is excellent. In my quest for better coffee I first purchased a Bonavita another highly recommended coffee maker but after two weeks of inconsistent result I returned it.

After almost a year of researching, I am glad I got this one.
The design and the quality of coffee are the top two reasons I got this one. I grind beans and drink a cup or two of coffee every morning. After trying a few different brands and did my research for almost a year, I choose this over a few different candidates. The only thing I wish they did better was the plastic parts - the upper part of carafe- They were not so sturdy and almost feels too light, so I have to handle gently.

    So simple
A pleasure to use every morning. So easy and quick to make and to clean. Great tasting coffee all the time. It’s worth it, regardless of cost.

The "Brew-volume selector switch" is an enigma.
I had to experiment with this Moccamaster model to find out what the "Brew-volume selector switch" (BVSS) really does. I found that if you make a full pot with the BVSS set to full, the coffeemaker will draw about 13 amps for 5 minutes, after which the hot plate will keep the coffee more than hot enough. I prefer to disregard the instructions and make a full pot with the BVSS set to half, in which case the coffeemaker will draw about 13 amps for a little over 1 minute, then draw about 8 amps for another 5 minutes. (I know this because I measured it.) I'm not in that big of a hurry when I make a pot of coffee, and I don't want the water to spill out of the basket and make a mess, as happened once when I was using a different Moccamaster model (the one with a thermal carafe). I also found experimentally that the current drawn by the hot plate is unaffected by the BVSS setting, which I consider unfortunate, because this implies that the hot plate will keep a half pot hotter than a full pot. Also, the handle of the glass carafe would be more comfortable to use if the bottom of it were rounded on the outside instead of having a sharp corner. Despite these minor shortcomings, my impression so far is that this is the best Moccamaster model.

    Best coffeemaker on the market!
This handsome coffeemaker is well-built and makes the best at-home coffee I have ever had! It's also very quiet and fast - It brews a full pot in about five minutes and you can barely hear anything. Simple to use, easy to clean. It does not have a pump (which is what dies on most coffee makers) instead the copper heating element rapidly heats the water and it rises up in a glass tube through the reservoir. Best of all, it's not manufactured in China! It's made by a family-owned business in the Netherlands that stands behind their products. My recommendation: grind your own coffee beans to a medium consistency. No large bean fragments, but you don't want to grind it too fine either. This is a keeper!! Seriously folks, worth every penny!

    Nice design, otherwise overrated
Looking to replace our 4 year old Ninja coffee bar, I decided to try the Moccamaster KBGV Select. Not impressed. The parts are plastic and flimsy, you would think they came from a $50 coffee maker. The heating coil is supposed to be top quality though. The temperature off the coffee coming out is in the 195-205 range so thats good.Did a blind taste test with my wife and we couldn't tell the difference between the old Ninja and new Moccamaster. We actually both guessed that the coffee we liked better was from the new Moccamaster but it was from the Ninja. There might be some confirmation bias with what were used to, but regardless the Moccamaster wasn't really better.I like the looks of the Moccamaster, I just think manufacturer is coasting. They need to upgrade the plastic parts. Maybe these were ok 30 years ago, but there's better plastics that are a little more substantial and look better. Similarily, the glass carafe is thin and only a matter of time before its broken. One other nit picky thing, when you put the glass carafe back in it grates on the hot plate, not smooth at all. Its almost like the glass and metal really don't work well together. OTOH my Ninja is smooth as silk when you put it back on the hotplate. The Moccamaster makes coffee well with the temperature, brew time, and wand. But these days other companies are catching up to these key benchmarks.I will either keep the Ninja cp301 we bought to compare to the Moccamaster or maybe try the Breville BDC450 or 650.

First new coffee maker in 20 years....love it!
Bought this after my old brewer gave up after 20 years. Read the reviews and have to disagree that there is anything difficult with this system. You have to remember this is an European coffee brewer and the 10 cup system is large in EU. I have had no issues adjusting from my old 12 cup to this system. The coffee filter is a #4 and I do not find it difficult to remove it or place it back in. You lift up slightly and pull....it's no more difficult than that. To place it back in, you place it in at a little upward angle and slides right in. As for flavor and the rest - I agree with others that it is directly related to the quality of the bean. I grind fresh each morning. What I have really enjoyed and perhaps its a mental thing, but the crew is at the correct temp and I believe it does impact the flavor - it temp is much hotter than my old brew and I love it. I also enjoy the ease of cleaning and the modular design in case anything goes wrong in the future. I recommend this and love it!

    Good quality coffee fast
I’ve had this for over a month and I love it. The taste is a lot better than traditional coffee makers but way more convenient than sitting around for a pour over. I haven’t had any issues so far. I could see how others might not like the lid of the coffee pot since it’s a bit flimsy but I just take it off before washing it’s not a big deal.

    Great product! Great Seller!
The media could not be loaded.  Product: Love, love, love my Moccamaster. This is literally one of the best coffeemakers on the market and you can't go wrong buying it. While it doesn't have all the bells & whistles you'll find with othet brands, Technivorm has spent decades developing a low tech, high performing product that CONSISTENTLY brews a great cup of coffee.Seller: Initially purchased an "open box" version, but when there was a problem with it the seller (Glamazon) sent me a new one instead of cancelling my order. This is definitely not the kind of customer service we've come to expect from online shopping, and I would definitely recommend doing business with this seller.

Doesn’t get any better than this!
This machine brews the best coffee. Period. I’m snooty when it comes to my coffee and I’m sorry I waited so long to buy a Technivorm. If you are on the fence don’t waste any time. It’s simple, easy to operate and clean. Makes a hot and excellent cup of coffee. I use Lavazza whole beans that I buy on Amazon. Best purchase this year!

Great coffee, but is it the one to buy?
This review is for the Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select. I am a craft coffee roaster...I roast my own coffee purchased from all over the world. I want a coffee brewer that does justice to the effort that I have put into buying and roasting my green coffee beans. If you're like me, you're not just wondering if the Moccamaster is a good coffee maker, but you are wondering if it is the one to buy...is it worth the money? With that in mind, I will talk about the Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select and compare it to a competing coffee maker in hopes of being of assistance in making your decision; but I won't go into great detail so I'm not repeating marketing hype. The Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select is a really pretty machine. It looks just like it's pictured on Amazon. I bought the teal model. So, if you like the looks in the pictures, then you'll like the looks of the machine. It meets the SCAA gold cup standard for brewing, and so it does make very good coffee. It takes a standard #4 cone filter which are easy to find. It has a switch that can be set to either half pot or full pot (the primary reason I bought this particular model). The carafe is glass and it is thin; nothing wrong with that but don't dink it on the counter or the sink as it will likely crack. Having said that, I think that coffee brewed in glass tastes a tiny bit better....maybe. I can tell very little difference between coffee brewed in glass and that brewed in stainless. By all accounts, the internal working of the coffee maker are excellent and should be expected to last a long time. In short, it a good coffee making machine and it brews good coffee. Now the cons: The lid over the water reservoir and the lid over the coffee filter are both loose pieces. No big deal, but when you are filling the water and putting coffee in the filter, you have to kind of juggle those loose lids and find a place to put them on the counter that is out of the way. Not a deal breaker, but be aware that this adds just a bit of "busyness" to the coffee brewing process. Also, the power switch which initiates the brew keeps the hot plate on will stay on for like 100 minutes if you do not remember to turn it off, even if the carafe is not on the machine. I would think a machine of this quality would have some kind of sensor to turn the hot plate off if the carafe is not on the machine. One final note; I purchased my Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select during Prime days for $245 instead of the normal $349...the lowest price ever offered by Technivorm. I have always wanted a Moccamaster, but without that $104 savings? I would not have purhcased it. $349 is too much for a household coffee maker. For that matter, so is $245.I also own the OXO 9 Cup maker with a stainless thermal carafe. It is an attractive, modern looking machine. It also is a SCAA gold cup standard coffee brewer that can make a half or whole pot. The carafe is virtually indestructible and keeps a full pot of coffee very hot for a long time (1.5-2 hours). Both the water reservoir lid and filter housing lid are hinged permentantly to the machine so they are never in the way or taking up counter space. Are the internal working as highly engineered and constructed as those of the Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select? Probably not. But, I've had my OXO for three years and it works flawlessly every time. OXO engineers their products well and I expect their machine to last a long time. The OXO does not have a hot plate so no issue like that of the Moccamaster. One neat thing it does do; it senses if the carafe is in place and if it is not in place you cannot brew. Nice safety/convenience feature, I think. Cons: none really, unless you consider a stainless carafe a con. I do not. There might be a miniscule difference in taste (one that cannot be quantified), but I cannot definitively say there is. I have been drinking my own roasts for the last three years brewed in the OXO. Every good roast has tasted good; every poor roast has tasted poor. But, that's on me the roaster....not on the brewer. At just about $200 full price, the OXO is a bargain compared to the Moccamaster. If you chose to buy the Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select you've got a very good machine. If you pay $349 for it, I have to say that you spent a lot more money for a coffee brewer than you needed it. If you really want the Moccamaster, buy it and be proud of it. You'll like the coffee. If you want a very good coffee maker and you don't absolutely have to own a Moccamaster, be a better steward of your money and buy the OXO for about $200 or less. You won't be dissapointed with either brewer, but you might be disappointed with yourself for spending more than you need to for a good coffee maker.FYI: 1)The Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select is about 14" tall and the OXO is about 15"...if this matters to you. 2) I use the Melitta Bamboo #4 filters on both machines because they don't impart a papery taste to the coffee...IMO.Hope this help you!

Finally....a coffee maker that will last. Albeit pricey.
I was pleased to find a nearly perfect item in the Warehouse which saved me $70. I can't recall how many coffee makers we've had over the years...but I'm sure the cost overall was much more than this MochaMaster model.I support the concept that the pot has a long warranty and that it is repairable for many many years even after the warranty. There isn't anything we don't like about this pot....we were die hard Bunn users before this. I will add that this pot will brew in nearly the same time as our Bunn BT....a big plus.I will admit that the initial cost is hard to bit into...but we like the form and function of this unit and will be pleased to carry it far into the future.

Works well but a lot more cheap plastic than I expected
I love all the different color options and it does make good coffee and stays clean easily. The controls are basic and I prefer that.Main issue is how much of it feels like cheap plastic. Considering the price point I expected better overall construction.

Invest in quality. Not made in China. Worth the money.
After multiple days of concerted research, I finally decided on this highly rated "splurge-worthy" coffee machine for my boyfriend. He is very particular about his coffee and difficult to impress or please regarding gadgetry. His coffee machine of ten years crapped out on him, and the move for me to replace it was bold. He's an engineer and loves efficient, straightforward designs. He especially loves the feel of the switch button- the attention to detail comes through here. The machine is attractive and intuitive to use. With only two uncomplicated switches, it doesn't require a lot of processing to figure out or get right. The coffee is brewed quickly and perfectly every time. It's not made in China! Extended warranty. Worth every penny. The only complaint is that it uses a slightly different cone-shaped filter than the standard number 4. But they include some free ones in the box to get you started.

Basic features, expensive (buy it on sale!), should last forever
This is an expensive, basic drip coffee maker. The biggest thing going for it is that it has off the shelf replacements parts. We picked the KBGV because it has the selectable brew size, which affects the length of brewing and the temperature of the hot plate. The carafe feels thin and I'm a bit worried about breaking it.Overall very happy with this coffee maker and expect to use it for many, many years ahead.(Moccamaster USA has refurbished makers on their website if you want to save $130. We ended up buying new on Amazon during their July Prime Day sale. The cost for new was $10 more than a refurbished unit.)

    Makes excellent coffee but...
The internal components of this system are top notch. It makes a great pot of coffee every time. It is fast, the coffee is hot and it makes my morning a happy time. But, the rest of the unit is made with cheap, poorly designed materials. The auto stop (so you can pour while brewing) only works about 50% of the time. The outer shell, the glass coffee pot itself and the external components are very cheaply made. The coffee pot has an issue pouring - it drips every time. Every cup of coffee includes a wipe down on the counter. There are plenty of coffee pots out there without that problem - you would think this is a simple issue to solve. Why in the world would you make such an excellent machine and then wrap it in cheap, thin plastic?

    very cheaply made
I have made French press coffee for about 10 years and grind my beans fresh for each pot - I love my French press coffee but the only thing is - is that in the mornings sometimes my husband is ready for a second cup before I am and if the coffee in the French press sits for any length of time it gets bitter. Also I like to put collogen powder in my coffee and a French press cup of coffee has a little more "tooth" to it and leaves a bit of powder in the bottom of my cup that I don't drink and this made me afraid that I wasn't getting my collogen - so I wanted something that would create a cleaner cup of coffee and that led me to this machineI wanted a Breville machine because I have many Breville products and love everything I have from them and for the price point theirs has a lot more features ice coffee and a timer so I could wake up in the morning to a pot of coffee already made - unfortunately theirs was to tall to fit under my counter.when I looked at other "quality" coffee makers this mocha master kept coming up and at over 300 bucks I figured it must be a quality machine and make great coffee - it would fit under my counter tops and looked alrightwhen I pulled it out of the box I began second guessing my decision because all of the parts looked so cheap and flimsy - even the glass felt very thin and fragile definitely didn't look like anything that would cost over 150 bucks - so I thought ok well then it must make really great coffee that must be where the expense comes in - some kind of special technology or something - so I set it up and made a pot of coffee - the coffee reminded me of my old 20 dollar drip coffee machine that I had 30 years ago in my first apartment ( eye roll) I thought maybe I didn't have the grind or the amount right - so I played with that for a few pots - nothing made a difference- I boxed it back up and returned itI purchased a $ 40 pour over that came with a stainless filter and looks adorable sitting on the counter and makes a fabulous cup of coffee that is clean but still full bodied. and flavorful we now alternate between that and the French press. If I ever move and have higher countertops I might try the Brevelle but honestly I just don't think you can get the same flavor from a drip machine- especially going through paper - something about the filters removes the flavor - IMOI have no idea why this machine cost so much - it certainly isn't the quality of the materials and it certainly isn't the quality of the coffee - it doesn't do anything different from any other cheap drip coffee machine

Good Coffee, but disappointed in construction for the price
This machine is touted as the top of the line for coffee for an SCA approved Gold Standard Cup. I agree it makes a really good cup of coffee and is simple to use. I have two major problems with this machine though. First, as a Gold Standard Rated brewer, it doesn't have a bloom feature. Maybe this is important, maybe not. I suppose the flavor is still great so its not too important. Secondly, the price is very high for this machine. However, the parts are CHEAP. The base of the machine is metal and seems solid, but the rest of the parts are flimsy plastic and the carafe is very very thin glass and you need to be extremely careful with it. I do like the carafe lid which has a feature to make sure you don't pour a weak cup of coffee on the first pour and a strong cup on the last pour. It funnels the brewing coffee to the very bottom of the carafe. So I guess, I am happy with the coffee it makes, but I don't think this machine is worth the price tag. There are machines for half the price that I bet would do just as good a job. I fell for the SCA Gold Standard Cup hype, touting this as the best machine. If I had to do it over again I would buy the SCA rated Kitchen Aid for half the price.

    Love it!!!
The coffee is delicious. It has very nice materials and quality. It brews a full 10 cups crazy quick. It's fun just to watch from the second of flipping the switch to how fast it starts coming out then to the last drop and just watching the clock. I laugh everytime and just smh "it's just so fast!" It's really cool looking too. Besides those things the important part being the final result it makes a great and delicious cup of coffee. I do love coffee and just coffee pots in general (I collect coffee pots. Antique, vintage, different types, and cool looking ones etc..) I admittedly don't know a whole lot about coffee. I'm no where near being an expert or coffee connoisseur. So for full details in the area of how and why it works and tastes so good I couldn't really tell you much. I saw it around in different places and it was always highly recommended. It was in my save for later list for over a year while I debated on whether or not to get it.. I read so many reviews from people who seem to really know coffee (like I said over my head) to where that part would be lost to me. For me personally that's an expensive splurge so I was on the fence for over a year on if I could justify spending that much. Especially on something that I may not notice much of a difference from my normal go to percolator. So I treated myself at Christmas and took a chance. It definitely met and exceeded my shallow reasons of looking cool and being fun to watch. Even after a month I still get that little smile and chuckle every morning when I see it. I have zero regrets and it was definitely worth the money. I can honestly say I can tell a huge difference from my percolator. It really does make a good cup of coffee. Uh I just love it! Lol

    Best Coffee Maker I've Owned
Most consistent brew I've experienced. I owned the Breville Precision Brewer and really liked it but the Moccamaster is just superior.

Why did I wait so long
It was a splurge for me, I should have done this ages ago. I have never had a more balanced cup of coffee in a home before.

    The best coffee maker --period!
I bought this coffeemaker to replace a Technivorm that I have had for about 15 years. These are excellent machines that are of professional quality. They always make a hot pot of coffee VERY quickly! I always use filtered or bottled water in my coffee makers to prevent mineral build-up. They don't have all the junk that one really does not need to make a great cup of joe in the morning. But, they are built like tanks and always heat the brewing water to the proper temperature of about 200 degrees Fahrenheit. I know that many people may complain about the price, but trust me, it will be money well spent as you will not need another coffeemaker for many years to come. Along with that longevity, you will be enjoying GREAT coffee....not half-brewed weak coffee every pot that you brew.

    The ultimate drip machine
after a few years of using the chinese copy of this (redline) i bit the bullet on prime day to get the real deal, and i'm so happy i did. it's an incredible machine, and brews identical pots of coffee one after another. the recipe and ultimately, the quality of coffee is on you, so it may take a couple tries to get it dialed into your preferences, but once you figure that out, it's super consistent.

The best drip coffee you'll ever have
This is as close as you can get to a super automatic that grinds for each cup without all the hassle of one. I used to think i loved Nespresso. The coffee this turns out makes that taste like Folgers. A bit fiddly to put together and obviously more involved than a pod machine but the taste is more than worth it. Stick to the Melitta #4 unbleached filters, they won't do you wrong.

    Exquisite coffee
Perfect in every way. The flavor you get with this machine is just insane, occasionally I don’t give myself enough time to brew a pot at home and I’m forced to brew a pot at work and it tastes really bad compared to my Moccamaster. I own a Cup One also, buy this machine.

    Worth the price!
After 4 months, I am able and ready to write a thorough review.Pros:Price: Because of the cone shaped filter and design, I use around half as much coffee as every other machine I’ve owned. In my mind, it will eventually pay for itself. No drip design: So far, so good! Got sick of the mess and smell of burning coffee every time I poured a cup from other coffee makers. This is why I switched from my Bunn after just 4 months.Replacement parts: Although most of the parts have a cheap plastic feel, every critical part can be easily purchased and replaced keeping your investment like new.Removable top: While coffee is brewing, you can remove the top and watch the hot water pour over and brew your coffee grounds. Why? Only fresh coffee will froth as it brews keeping a check on the freshness of your coffee.Speed: Very fast. Brews a whole 10 cup pot in just a few minutes.Taste: Very consistent. Coffee tastes great using nearly half the beans. It took me a while to get coffee/water ratio to my liking (was honestly making it too strong) but now I enjoy the same consistent flavor daily.Temperature: Coffee Seems to brew and maintain a perfect temperature.Carafe: It seemed big and a little clumsy at first but my hand easily fits into the large opening making it a cinch to clean.Automatic shut off: Nice feature. Keeps coffee from overheating which can make it bitter.Looks: THIS MACHINE JUST LOOKS COOL!Cons:Not dishwasher safe: Oh well, just get used to hand washing parts daily. No clock or timer: I personally don’t need another clock in my kitchen but it may be useful to some, so consider this before buying.Carafe lid: # 1 con; I cannot argue the reasoning for the design, but the inside of the long tube that bleeds the coffee to the bottom of the pot is near impossible to clean without some kind of long, tiny brush. Being non dishwasher safe, they should consider including a cleaning brush with this product.Overall:It’s hard to argue about a machine that brews delicious, fresh, fast, hot brewed consistent coffee. This machine looks great and can easily be keep looking and brewing like new. It should be the last coffee maker I will ever purchase.

The Dutch sure can make great products.
I have tried at least 10 different coffee makers in my lifetime from Cuisinart to KitchenAid to Bunn and several others. This one is in a much higher class of design and execution for a drip coffee maker. Worth every penny. Amazon was the only place that had the rare red color still available.

Figured out I'm not a connoisseur
Let me be clear; I've always had Bunns. So I may be a tad predjudiced. I fell for the hype concerning the Moccamaster. I thought it would produce a magical cup of coffee. I suppose if you wake up, grind your beans, and proceed to make your coffee, it would. I'm a commoner. Throw in your ground coffee and go! Sorry Moccamaster...the Bunn beats you out. The Moccamaster is a small volume coffee maker. I found it rather fiddly to take the top off to add your coffee and then do the same for the water. It's fairly quick and it makes good coffee. Just not good enough, to me, to justify the price. I didn't find it made a significantly better cup of coffee than the Bunn. There was also a chip in the finish on the heating plate. That convinced me to return it. Connoisseur? Buy it. Commoner? Don't.

Delivers great tasting coffee, as good as pour over.
Let me preface the review by saying this: I threw my old drip coffeemaker in the trash when I did a taste comparison with my friend and his Chemex pour over coffee. That was over two years ago and I have thoroughly enjoyed my pour over coffee, except for when I had company and needed to make more than just a little. That was always a daunting and tedious task. Thus began my hunt for a drip coffeemaker as free of bitterness as my Chemex pour over. That’s when I discovered Technivorm and its Moccamaster 53929 KBGV. Every cup is delicious, smooth and without bitterness. It’s so good in fact, I have used my Chemex maybe a handful of times since May.The only (minor) drawback for me, is that you cannot control the temperature and it runs a little high for my tastes. That’s easily remedied by giving it a minute to cool down after you pour it. Incredible machine and worth EVERY dollar.

    Decent but expected more.
This coffee maker was easy to assemble, easy to use and clean. It look nice, and brews a quality pot of coffee. However, there are 2 big shortcomings that are super important. 1. the resovoir and pot should be much bigger. I drink a lot of coffee. Two of my big mugs of coffee and it’s practically gone.2. The coffee also does not stay warm for long. Regretting that I do not purchase the version with thermal karaf. For a $360 spend you’d think these bases would be better covered. I would like to try the one with karaf but not sure I want the return hassle.

The perfect coffee maker for pour-over lovers
I've been making pour-overs at home for years, but when i started working from home full time, I found I didn't have time to make a cup fast enough before my next meeting or before someone called me. It became frustrating, and sometimes a pour-over would wait half done for hours before I could get back to it. I had to go back to a drip machine, but remembered how inferior the finished cup was, and I am picky about my coffee. This machine is the closest I've experienced to a pour-over quality cup from a drip machine. Yes it's a little expensive, but how much do you love properly brewed coffee? Set your priorities and act accordingly.

I love the style size and ease of use of this new coffee maker. I've used a burn for 10+ years and thought it was the best but this one is much smaller, but makes same amount of coffee, and much sleeker on the counter. Also, I am not wasting electricity with it staying hot all the time. Love this machine.

    Worth the hefty price tag
I thought I’d lost my mind when I hit purchase. My Melitta 5 cup cone filter brewer needed replacing (broke the carafe and couldn’t find a replacement even on eBay or Melitta website. It had to be a 4 or 5 cup, cone filter brewer, that wouldn’t ruin my $28/lb freshly roasted coffee. Small pot brewers are disappearing as most people transition to single cup on-demand type coffeemakers (yuck! stale coffee). Now, 100+ pots of coffee later I can say with confidence that this was worth the money. The coffeemaker has a half pot brew cycle which mimics what my old 4 cup brewer did. This was why I purchased it. Better still, when entertaining I no longer have to make 2 little pots, but also have a 12 cup brewer! I plugged it into a WeMo switch so I can tell Siri to make me coffee in the morning when I’m ready.

Well built, looks great, subpar grind coverage
PROs:-Very well built and superb finish-looks better than any standard drip coffee maker out there (IMO)-many color options (I got the matte black)-maintains perfect brewing temp-2 hr auto shut off for warming plate to prevent burnt coffee-glass carafe version is easy to cleanCONS:-pricey-dinged one star because the top sprayer doesn't seem to cover the entire grind bed. I allow the brew start for about 30-60 seconds and gently stir the grinds to ensure full coverage. I feel like another 2 rows on the top sprayer would have been perfect to reach the far end of the grind bed.Overall, certainly one of the best coffee makers I've used and looks sharp. Built to last.

Arrived damaged - Interesting to note, same as another in the reviews
Love this coffee maker, it's everything advertised. It did arrive damaged - and exactly as another reviewer noted. Waiting for a replacement. Unlike Tracey's experience, the Mfr deferred customer service to Amazon after I registered the product and followed their instructions "not to return" but to contact them directly.. We tried. Guess we'll see what happens. If we hadn't paid so much for a drip coffee maker, lol - we probably would just live with the chip and the scratched water reservoir (not pictured) - and/or refinish it ourselves, but not letting this one go. We'll update the review when Amazon/Distributor makes good on a replacement.UPDATE:Never bothered with cont’d complaints about replacement.. decided to keep it with the chipped burner.. I’d rather not think about it ending up in a landfill. On the whole - absolutely cool coffee maker and don’t regret the purchase. It makes us smile all the time - its super quick and efficient, looks amazing and it’s so easy to clean etc.. Wonderfully minimalist and simple.

Great coffee starts with a great maker
You’ll also need great coffee itself too. 1960’s era aesthetic with modern quality components make up this brewer for most of us coffee connoisseurs that aren’t complete snobs. If you’re ready to step up from your college dorm days coffee maker, this is the way.

Fall in love with your coffee again
Thought about getting a chemix but didn’t want to do all the work. This is an automated Pour Over machine that brings out all the flavor without the work. One quirk is that in Europe a cup is 4 oz but that turned out great for me as I can brew a little less than a liter and drink about 3 10 oz cups. Confusing I know. Now I’m having fun trying different coffees and enjoying the taste and flavors of coffee again.

    Worth the investment!
Best flavor, and from a drip machine. Liked the ability to choose a special color and see that it should last a very long time. My last machine was a vacuum/syphon and it was very good but it lasted only about two years and no way to get it replaced. So far the Technivoorm is a worthy replacement. Also liked the ability to choose a smaller retailer and I still got it the next day, on a Sunday!!

Coffee good but negatives outweigh the positives
I was excited when the moccamaster went on sale for $100 off and picked it up. I had heard great things about it being the best coffee pot around for the past year or so when my last coffee pot broke after many years of faithful service. I will break it down to the pros and cons for me.Pro..Pretty, looks very coolCoffee is goodCoffee snob street credMy kids like watching itCon...Small pot, enough for me but no one else!the plate does not stay hot enough or last long enough for mefeels very fragilea lot of steps to make it just right, easy to not do it correctlyreally expensiveI don't think the price justifies the expense, Costs roughly 7-9x more than a reasonable pot but is about5-10% better coffeeIn the end I sent it back and bought a regular Hamilton Beach pot that does the job well for $40 and I am glad I did. I shall leave the moccamaster for the hipsters.

Great Coffee Machine with a few Quirks and limited Features
First, let me say I looked at a few colors first before settling on Stone Grey. I was originally leaning towards matte silver, but it honestly didn't look as rich and impressive as I thought it would and then polished silver looked good, but not 'distinctive'.So I ordered the Stone Grey and it looks SO good - it has a unique 'crinkle' metallic finish to it, making it look very rich but the color is also timeless.I have a good Breville burr grinder and got some good coffee and set it for a more coarse setting as recommended. The coffee came out really good, but immediately before brewing my first cup, I noticed some quirks that are worth mentioning:- you can not remove the water canister and fill it up - you have to bring the water to it- it will brew 100% of the water in the water canister (ie. you can't fill it up and brew 2 cups or 4 cups or anything; it will brew 100% of whatever water is in the canister, so fill it up carefully) - that's the biggest drawback I personally have so far- the cups are European cups (like most coffee makers) - ie. 1 cup is 4oz. So a 16 oz travel mug is "4 cups"- it is MUCH lighter than I expected (not good or bad, just unexpected)- plastics are cheap (just being honest - they are shiny and cheap)- glass carafe is crazy thin and light (worried it will break over time, but we'll see)- there are only two switches - on/off (with an auto-off) and 1/2 or full pot. That's it. No timer, no program function, etc.In other words, it does one thing and it does it well as there are really no other features to speak of, other than things behind the scenes that just work (hand built, quality materials other than the plastics, proper temperature, proper dosing, etc.) I don't regret my purchase after my terrible experience with Breville Grind 'n Brew that stopped working in less than 2-years for a similar cost.

    Best coffee ever!
The brew is so quick! Flavor is better than any coffee maker I've used - just as good, if not better, than any pour over. Exceptional Coffee Maker
Love this coffeemaker! Paid almost the same amount for several different coffee makers but ended up returning them as the coffeemaker did not make that great of coffee. I truly tried at least 6 different coffeemakers to find that great cup of coffee. None came close as the Technivorm Moccamaster. I did not want to pay this price for a coffee maker but some of the other coffeemakers were almost the same price and clearly not the same quality. It was worth the money from the first cup I could taste the difference. The coffee taste is really what you want out of a coffeemaker and this one is a perfect cup of coffee everytime. I highly recommend this coffee maker as it is simple to use, easy to clean and makes the best coffee out there. You will not regret this purchase.

    Small but Spectacular
Our old Cuisinart grind and brew kicked the bucket, and there were not a ton of replacement options so we searched for a new machine that simply made great coffee. We roast our own single origin beans and wanted to be able to taste the subtle nuances of flavor. We paired this with a Breville burr grinder opting for a course grind 48 at 29 seconds for 10 cups of coffee. It brews astonishingly quick, extracting the flavors of the bean. Excellent coffee, rich and flavorful. Now for the bad. It only makes 3 small cups of coffee and there are 2 of us. Note mug size. Additionally, the handle of the glass craft feels awful in one’s hand, kind of flimsy and lightweight plastic pieces. Are we regretting our purchase? Heck no. The coffee is great and we can make more but wish there was an XL version.

    World's finest coffeemaker
I'm very pleased with the look and function of this coffee maker. I was bound and determined to purchase a replacement for my old DeLonghi machine that is NOT a product of China. The Moccamaster was about the only automatic pot that fit that description that is also certified by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). There are some pour over and stove top devices that are domestically manufactured, but this is the only non-Chinese SCA certified machine. By the way, there is some Internet nonsense trying to disparage the Technivorm brand claiming that the Dutch-made product is counterfeit. Don't believe this junk -- Technivorm has always been in the Netherlands, never in Belgium. This product is extremely well made and well packed with an outstanding warranty. Happy to be a Moccamaster owner!

    Glass carafe sucks
The coffee is awesome, the speed and brew are amazing, but the glass carafe is pure crap. I am on my second one because a fork was thrown in the sink and broke the first. Both are brand accurate. I might be an idiot, but I can hardly pour a cup without that carafe spilling all over the place. You either have to super slow pour or your counter gets a taste too. If I had it to do over, I would have bought the model with the thermal carafe. I love the maker, but the carafe is doing what it can to ruin my mornings.
